Our Journey
From Challenges to Triumphs, Our Journey Continues to Inspire and Evolve.
The story of Tarakota is not just about architecture, it’s about a movement. A commitment. A relentless pursuit of a better world.
2016 – The First Realization: Architecture is More Than Just Buildings
It all started with a simple belief: every structure we build should serve a greater purpose. When we founded CV Rinjani Multi Contractor in 2016, we entered the industry thinking we were just another construction firm. We built, we designed, we delivered. But something was missing.
Then, we found ourselves working on industrial projects that kept businesses running, but what about the people who had no access to the most basic infrastructure?
While factories kept their machines running, children in rural villages still studied under broken roofs, with no proper desks, no electricity, no future. The realization hit hard: we were solving problems for industries but not for humanity.
The question kept echoing in our minds: what if we used architecture to change lives instead of just completing projects?
2017 – A Wake-Up Call: Seeing the Power of Infrastructure During Crisis
In 2017, we rebranded into PT Adivia Karya Konstruksi, marking the beginning of a transformation that would shape our future. That same year, we secured a project with Kalbe Group, one of Indonesia’s largest pharmaceutical companies. It was here that we saw, for the first time, how the right infrastructure could save lives.
Then came the COVID-19 pandemic.
We watched how Kalbe Group mobilized its resources to fight the crisis—hospitals were overwhelmed, medicines were in high demand, and communities needed support. We saw the urgency of well-planned infrastructure, the need for spaces that could heal and protect.
And yet, outside the corporate world, thousands of schools remained neglected. Rural communities lacked clean water. Villages had no access to sustainable energy.
The thought haunted us: why weren’t we using our skills to solve these problems?
The pandemic wasn’t just a global crisis—it was a moment of reckoning. We knew we had to shift our focus.
2021 – The Birth of Tarakota: A Mission Beyond Construction
By 2021, we had grown beyond a conventional architecture and construction company. We no longer wanted to just design spaces—we wanted to redesign the way architecture serves humanity.
That year, we rebranded as PT Tata Ruang Kota, later evolving into Tarakota. The name, inspired by Terracotta, symbolized a strong foundation, a timeless material that has shaped civilizations. But more than that, it represented our commitment to building not just walls, but futures.
This was the beginning of something bigger. Sociotecture was no longer just an idea, it was a necessity.
We asked ourselves :
- What if every school we built could last for generations, ensuring education for thousands of children?
- What if architecture wasn’t just about aesthetics, but about accessibility, sustainability, and social equity?
- What if, instead of waiting for change, we became the change?
The answer was clear. We had to act.
2023 – Laying the Foundation for Change: Preparing for a New Era of Impact
While our hands were still deep in architecture and design, our hearts had already shifted towards a greater mission.
Throughout 2023, we worked tirelessly behind the scenes, building networks, forming partnerships, and securing collaborations that would allow us to pivot into Sociotecture at full scale.
We forged connections with universities, NGOs, corporations, and government agencies, both in Indonesia and internationally. We reached out to high-net-worth individuals, impact- driven investors, and philanthropic organizations who shared our vision.
We weren’t just planning projects. We were laying the groundwork for a movement.
2024 – Strengthening the Vision: Creating a Global Ecosystem of Sociotecture
By 2024, the pieces started falling into place.
We had built a strong foundation of partners, from leading educational institutions to corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of major companies. We had spent years understanding what it truly takes to build sustainable, long-lasting schools that don’t just provide education but transform entire communities.
We weren’t just thinking about building classrooms, we were designing ecosystems where education, clean water, and renewable energy could co-exist sustainably.
This was the year we solidified our plan. 2025 was going to be the year of execution.
2025 – The Year of Action: Bringing Sociotecture to Life
Now, the wait is over. The time for action has arrived.
In 2025, we are focusing on Eastern Indonesia, where the need for proper education facilities is most urgent. Our first mission: building five fully sustainable schools that will serve as a model for future Sociotecture projects.
Each school will not just be a learning space.
- It will be powered by solar energy, ensuring that even the most remote communities
can have access to electricity.
- It will have its own water filtration system, because no child should have to walk miles
just for clean drinking water.
- It will be designed for resilience, built to withstand extreme weather, ensuring safety
for generations to come.
This is just the beginning. We won’t stop at five schools.
We are building the blueprint for a movement.
But we can’t do this alone.
This is your chance to be part of something greater. Every donation, every partnership, every
voice that joins our cause brings us closer to the world we dream of.
- We are not just designing buildings. We are designing hope.
- We are not just architects. We are changemakers.
- We are Tarakota. And we invite you to build the future with us.
Are you ready?
The Tarakota CANVAS
Every great design starts with a canvas. At Tarakota, our canvas is built upon six defining principles that shape everything we do:
, We push beyond boundaries, crafting designs that are visionary, innovative, and deeply human-centric., The world evolves. So do we. Every project is tailored to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.
, Architecture should be more than just structures—it should be a force for good, dignity, and progress.
, We don’t just build for today. We design for tomorrow, for generations, for legacies that outlive us.
, We think big, because the world’s challenges demand bold, fearless solutions.
, Every project we undertake prioritizes environmental responsibility, longevity, and resilience.
This is the Tarakota difference.
Our Philosophy
Foundations of Everything We Do
The philosophy of the brand 'Tarakota Studio' is rooted in fundamental and integral concepts in the world of architecture and interior design. The name 'Tarakota' is not just an identity, but a representation of a greater vision and mission in building and designing meaningful spaces.
First, 'Tarakota' originates from the abbreviation 'Tata Ruang Kota' (Spatial Planning of the City), reflecting the company's commitment to creating functional, aesthetic, and harmonious spatial arrangements in urban environments. PT Tata Ruang Kota, as the company's official name, reinforces this focus in every project undertaken, whether for commercial buildings, residences, or public spaces. We believe that every element of a city, from buildings to infrastructure, should be designed with awareness of balance, sustainability, and community needs.
Second, 'Tarakota' also refers to the terracotta color, which is the color of clay, the basic material of bricks. Bricks, as the most fundamental construction material, symbolize solid foundations and resilience in architecture. Clay, as a natural material, also represents our connection with nature and how we, at Tarakota Studio, always consider sustainability and environmental preservation in every design. Like clay that is processed into bricks, we believe that every design must undergo a meticulous and profound process, shaped with expertise and vision, to produce durable and meaningful works.
More than just materials and forms, Tarakota Studio upholds the philosophy that every space we create must have a soul, reflecting cultural values and user needs. We see architecture not just as the science of buildings, but as the art of creating spaces that can inspire, influence, and improve human quality of life. Thus, Tarakota Studio stands as a reliable partner in the journey of realizing meaningful spaces, where function and aesthetics meet in perfect harmony.
This philosophy also affirms our commitment to continuous growth and innovation, keeping up with technological advancements and global trends while still respecting traditional and cultural values that are deeply rooted. We believe that by combining modern technology with local wisdom, we can create designs that are not only visually beautiful but also relevant and contextual to the environment and culture where we work.
Tarakota Studio is not just a name, but a philosophy that underlies every step and decision we make in the world of architecture and interior design
Contemporary Modern Design Philosophy with Geometric Elements and Sustainability Touches This 'Symmetria' design was born from a deep understanding of the essence of modern architecture rooted in geometric beauty and sustainability principles. Highlighting contemporary modern characteristics, this design incorporates geometric elements such as triangles and circles as the main focal points, creating a dynamic and captivating visual impression. Triangles symbolize stability and strength, while circles reflect perfection and unity, which together create harmony in the overall building structure.
On a more fundamental level, this design integrates materials and concepts grounded in tropical and sustainable architecture. The use of bricks is not only for aesthetic elements but also as a material that functions to maintain thermal comfort and structural strength. The tropical design embedded through optimal ventilation ensures good air circulation, thereby creating a healthy and comfortable living environment.
Equally important, this design also carries the essence of subtle yet strong luxury. The luxury element in this design is not just about visual opulence but also comfort, functionality, and high quality that blend into every detail of the building.
Through this philosophy, the design creates spaces that are not only aesthetically beautiful but also technically intelligent and sustainable, offering a luxurious and meaningful living experience.
